I was born and raised in Northern New Mexico, in a small town outside of Santa Fe. Both of my parents are artists (see my dad’s amazing custom screen doors at
Southwest Screen Doors) and I was lucky to inherit their drive to create.
I first caught the metalsmithing bug in junior high under the patient instruction of the late Chris Christensen, a highly talented Native American artist and educator. I took a couple more classes in college, but beyond that I’m self-taught.
After a two-decade-long career in veterinary medicine, I’ve returned to the bench so I can spend more time with my husband and family. I currently divide my work time between my “day job” as an agricultural writer and a jeweler.
So what do I do in my free time? I love exploring the hills and mountains of New Mexico and Colorado with my husband. We’re both avid rockhounds and enjoy collecting both specimens and cutting material. I also enjoy being out with my horses or adding to my ever-growing flower gardens at home.
